Gift Ideas For Your Child's Teacher

It takes a village to raise a child and your child's teacher is an integral part of her growth. Not only does the teacher impart important knowledge and skills, but teaches children lessons of respect, self-worth and community involvement. So how do you thank a teacher for the commitment and dedication she shows on a daily basis? A mug or Christmas ornament just does not seem to capture your true appreciation. Here are
some creative and thoughtful gift ideas.
Have your older child write or dictate a note expressing how he feels about his teacher. Include a specific time when she made your child feel special. Younger children can draw a picture to be matted and placed in a pretty frame to present to his teacher.

Make something special for your teacher by painting a ceramic plate with your child's handprint or make a homemade sugar scrub.

Homemade Lemon Sugar Scrub

1 cup granulated sugar

½ cup sesame or olive oil

1 T. grated lemon zest (orange works well too)

In a large bowl, stir ingredients with a wooden spoon. Spoon mixture into a clean glass mason jar. Decorate with raffia or a bow.

Buy a spa gift basket full of items with which to pamper herself.

Teachers often spend their own money to supply their classroom. Make this easier by giving them a gift card to your local office supply store or dollar store.

Whatever you choose to give, make sure to include a personal note from your child. Teachers truly cherish a child's words of appreciation.
